I started back at the gym twice a week (I’ve been a sporadic gym goer for years but had given it up for a while). That went OK for a month or so then I joined the circuit class and before I knew it I was in the gym five days a week. Things started to change – clothes were more comfortable and people noticed the difference… But still no sign of any abs. So Kieran suggested I stepped things up and started his Learn to Be Lean Nutrition course. Wow, then things really started to happen.
I started my quest to do a pull-up by using the bands – I couldn’t do many even with those but gradually I got stronger until one day I could just do it. Between my before and after photos I’ve lost 2 stone (mostly from my stomach area) and achieved 19% body fat – my lowest ever in the last 5 years. And most importantly I can see vague shadows of my abs appearing*.
After three months of concerted effort I have reached <20% body fat and can now see my abs. Not only that but I’ve achieved personal bests at 140% body weight back squats and 170% deadlift. I’m ecstatic!*
Never one to stand still (to my mind that’s going backwards) my next challenge is to get fit for this… walking the Gorge de Verdon in Provence next June. Yikes!
